POLICY CHECK THREE:
Am I getting my contents covered? Even if you let out unfurnished properties you will want to ensure the white goods in the kitchen as well as carpets and other fixtures and fittings are protected. You should also check that this cover is offered on a ‘new for old’ basis so you can replace items as easily as possible. Most insurers will actually arrange for the purchase and delivery of replacement goods to take even more hassle out of the situation. If you are offering furnished lets you want an insurer that doesn’t have a high minimum value for contents. The total value of contents in rented property is likely to be lower than in owner-occupied homes. So you don’t want to be paying for protection you don’t need.
